In September 1998, I began practicing Japanese martial arts with a style called “Goju Ryu Karate-Do” while living in Espanola, Ontario, under Sensei Chuck Trahan at the “Bushido Martial Arts” dojo. Diligently learning and training during these first few years, I soon realized how important martial arts had become in my life and that I would continue to pursue to advance my studies of this and other martial arts.

In 2006 I moved to Sudbury to attend my post-secondary schooling and study in what would become my chosen career path. At the same time, I wanted to continue my karate training in Japanese Goju Ryu Karate Do, attending classes at Oriental Arts Academy until its closing in 2016.

I started my dojo on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, in Sudbury, naming it Uchi Martial Arts. Since then, I have been teaching my students and continuing my training, thus advancing my knowledge and understanding of karate; Now, as a student directly under the tutelage of Sensei Don Gauthier – 9th Degree Black Belt, Hanshi.
